Wonderful Three Days in Amma's Embrace

Amma in London 2011 from amma on Vimeo.

November 2011
Once again thousands of people came to Alexandra Palace to receive Amma's blessings. Dressed in a a red sari, Amma sat throughout Thursday night, and Devi Bhava came to an end with Amma showering her children with flower petals to the resounding refrain of Amma Amma Taye at 8.30am.

Hour after hour, she sat welcoming and embracing devotees with her unwavering love and compassion, wiping away tears and laughing and joking. What a privilege it is to experience the divine nectar of Amma's presence.

Due to the size of the crowds, Amma apologised for having to go faster than she wanted to but asked everyone to consider that it was better that everyone had a little of what she had to give than some were excluded and turned away. So we returned home with our hearts full even if a little tired.

We hope you managed to make it to Alexandra Palace to experience the loving presence of Amma and receive Her embrace. While Amma was in action, so too was a big operation of hundreds of volunteers, selflessly working away to ensure the programme ran smoothly and visitors could enjoy their Amma experience.

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the visit such a success. Whether you chopped veg, washed up, served food, stacked chairs or helped in the darshan line, your dedication and hard work are really appreciated. Without you, the programme could not happen.

So many people worked tirelessly not just during the programme but before and afterwards as well. As Amma says, selfless service is the soap that purifies ... and the opportunity to be in service at such an event is truly a blessing. We hope you felt so too :)  If you would like to be involved next year, please contact Vandita, volunteer coordinator vandita.amma@gmail.com.

Meeting Amma

Amma meets each person; embracing, comforting, consoling and uplifting thousands of people day after day. Amma’s love is unconditional, regardless of belief, or reason for coming. Many come to hear her speak, hear her unique devotional singing or simply be in her presence.

There is no charge for darshan

Collect a numbered token per darshan. Priority is given to people who have never met Amma before. The queue that forms before each programme is for newcomers. To join the queue please prepare to come to the programme 30 minutes/1 hour before it begins and to stay for several hours. The doors will open approximately an hour before the start of the programme. All others can receive their token after the programme starts.

If you have to leave early or have any other problems please tell the greeters at the entrance. Amma will see everyone who comes on the last evening of the programme. The programme often runs late into the night. Accommodation and travel are best being pre-arranged.
Please note: No video, photos or recording of any kind are allowed in the venue.
